Zapovid: Underground - EXCLUSIVE Subway Performance Fundraiser for displaced persons from Ukraine
Organizers: UCC Toronto & BCU Foundation
Wednesday, August 24th, 2022
7:30 pm - 11:00 pm ET

In honor of and in solidarity with Ukraine, the Toronto Ukrainian Foundation (UCC Toronto) and BCU Foundation are staging a subway performance. The venue is Lower Bay Station located beneath Bay subway station in downtown Toronto.  It is often the site of movie shoots and special events. The band Zapovid will perform with violinist Viera Zmiyiwsky. The band will perform on the platform and seating will be provided by two subway cars parked on either side of the platform. A Ukrainian cold buffet will be served. The mayor has been invited and the organizers hope to make this a media event.

Tickets for the event are $90. Proceeds will go to support the UCC Toronto and BCU Foundation's "New Hope Fund" in support of Ukrainian nationals arriving in Canada and in critical need of resettlement. You can register at the link below and use promo code UCC20 for 20% off. You get food and one free drink for the fee. There will be a sign-up auction and raffle ticket sales. There is no internet service in the subway so all transactions will have to be cash. There is limited seating - some chairs, seats on subway cars,  yoga mats on the floor. To guarantee your own seat you could bring a camping chair.
